Denver event photography rooted in 13+ years of photojournalism instincts. Galas, fundraisers, community events, and celebrations captured with zero disruption to your event.
Event photography isn't just documentation. Those images end up in your recap email, your donor letter, your social feed, and next year's event promotion. They're working assets and they should look like it.
My background is in photojournalism, which means I know how to move through a room without disrupting it, anticipate the moments before they happen, and deliver images that tell a complete story of your event. Not just a highlight reel of posed shots at the step-and-repeat.
I've shot galas for the city's largest nonprofits, university homecomings, community celebrations, and fundraisers that ended up on the front page. The common thread: images the people who organized the event are genuinely proud of.
From large nonprofit galas to neighborhood gatherings: if it matters to you, it matters to me.
Charity events, donor recognition nights, and benefit dinners where the photos need to move people to give again next year.
Grand openings, anniversaries, ribbon cuttings, and retirement parties. Occasions that deserve real photography, not someone's phone.
Festivals, cultural celebrations, and community gatherings where the energy is real and the moments happen fast.
Homecoming, graduation ceremonies, student union events, and athletics. Coverage that captures the energy of a campus in motion.
Happy hours, professional mixers, and launch parties where real connections happen. Candid coverage that shows the room at its best.
Live music, speaker series, and performances where the light is challenging and the moment doesn't wait. Fast, clean coverage that holds up.
Most event photographers react. A photojournalism background means knowing where to be, reading a room, and anticipating the shot before the moment arrives. That's the difference between images that feel alive and images that feel staged.
The real moments happen in the spaces between the program. The laugh before the speaker takes the stage. The handshake that turns into an embrace. I'm positioned for those before they happen, not chasing them after.
Photojournalism is coverage without interference. I move through a crowded room without disrupting it, work without flash where possible, and never pull guests aside mid-conversation for a posed shot.
A complete event gallery should tell someone who wasn't there exactly what it felt like to be there. That means shooting the details, the room, the crowd, and the program with equal care, not just the moments at the podium.

I started my career as a photojournalist, working on deadline for newspapers and wire services where the only option was to get the shot right the first time. That training never left. I bring the same instincts to every event I cover in Denver: read the room, move quietly, and be in position before the moment arrives.
Over 13 years and 500+ events, I've covered everything from intimate nonprofit fundraisers to large university homecomings. My work has been published in The New York Times, TIME Magazine, and ABC News. I'm based in Denver and shoot events across Colorado and the Front Range.
"Alyson was recommended to us by the events team at Empower Field, and she did not disappoint. Extremely communicative ahead of time, and during the event so kind and personable — making all of our guests feel comfortable and leading to some truly amazing photos."
"Aly's work is consistently outstanding, and she's become a true staple at MSU Denver. I recently hired her to photograph our first-annual Roadrunners After Dark event, and she delivered a gorgeous gallery in no time. Beautiful, high-quality images that perfectly captured the story of the night."
"I've worked with her for dozens of events here in Denver over the years, and she never disappoints. She's fun to work with, puts people at ease, and somehow manages to capture all the moments, even the ones you might have missed. The photos always tell the story of the day."

Hundreds of attendees, a student choir, five mothers sharing their stories, and keynote speaker Dr. Tiffany Moon.
Regency Athletic Complex
A full day at the Regency Athletic Complex: the tailgate, face painting, men's soccer, women's soccer, and a halftime scholarship ceremony.
Empower Field
Inside the Denver Broncos employee holiday party at Empower Field: the setup, the cheerleaders, the dancing, the portraits on the field, and what it's like to shoot inside an NFL stadium dressed for the holidays.
For galas and larger events, reaching out 4-8 weeks ahead for weekday bookings and 2-4 months ahead for weekend dates is ideal. Spring and fall tend to fill quickly in Denver. Check my current availability here.
At least 70 edited images per hour of coverage, so a 4-hour event typically yields 280 or more final images. All are fully edited: color corrected, exposure balanced, and ready for print or web. You won't receive unedited raw files or a dump of thousands of mediocre shots to sort through yourself.
Yes, I regularly cover events across the Front Range: Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and mountain venues in Vail and Aspen. Travel fees may apply for events beyond 60 miles from Denver. I've also traveled nationally for the right events. Ask about your location.
Most events: fully edited gallery within 5 business days. Larger multi-day events may take up to 10 business days. Rush 24-48 hour delivery is available for an additional fee when you need to share highlights quickly. Just mention it when you book.

I came up through photojournalism, so I anticipate moments instead of reacting to them. I work quietly, move fast, and never disrupt your event to get a shot. It's why my work has appeared in the New York Times, TIME, and ABC News, and why my clients keep rebooking year after year.
